M.I.A.

I've been missing for a minute but I wanted to check in! I'll have to be honest, I have not brought any makeup in months! My best friends wedding took up not only my time, but my money as well! I've thinking about switching gears with this blog. In the future I will periodically feature my other hobby/passion:SCRAPBOOKING!!! I already run two blogs and I refuse to run three seperate ones so scrapbooking will be incorporated into one of them! Ta-ta for now!

Fall Trends!

Hello my pretties!

Ah Fall is upon us! What does that mean? New fashion trends! When I was younger I never liked Fall and Winter. I love Spring and Summer. But as I age, I'm starting to fall in love with Fall! Why? I get to pull out my sexy boots and sweaters! Yeah I said sexy sweaters! Now when it comes to makeup, I've been noticing a lot of plums, coppers, golds, and bronzes. I'm eager to play with some plum and burgundy this season. I look forward to putting my coupons for Cache, Express, and New York & Company! It's time to amp up my 'Fall' wardrobe!

She comes off so warm and friendly, you almost feel like you know her! I just love the makeup tutorials. She takes time to explain every step and describes every product she uses and why. I've duplicated a few of her looks! So what are you waiting for? Go check her out! http://www.youtube.com/user/nhop76?feature=chclk

M.I.A.

I know I know, I've been MIA from the social networking world! Life has been B U S Y!!! Training on the job has been royally kicking my bootay! Also business is picking up for me so I've been throwing a lot of focus in it's direction! Did you know that I make bath and body products? At first, I intended to display some of my work on this blog in between cosmetic reviews, but I decided it was best to have a separate blog for my biz. So I've been juggling 2 blogs, 2 Twitter accounts, and now 2 You Tube accounts! YIKES! Where's a FREE.99 personal assistant when ya need one?!?!

Hello Dolls!

Miss me? LOL! Life has been quite busy for me this pass month so please forgive me for not updating! I've had to step away from 'social' activities for a while, but I'm slowly but surely creeping back! Business has been picking up for my soap company so that has occupied my time as well. I've had to revamp my brochures, discontinue some items, add new items, compare new suppliers, etc. Running a business and working a full time job is more than a notion! So don't think that I've abandoned you guys, just got a lot on my plate right now but I haven't forgotten you!

Good Evening Cuties!

I've become addicted to nail polish again! I was an OPI kick a few years back. Now I'm on a China Glaze and Zoya kick! Sadly, Sally's Beauty Supply does not carry Zoya, bummer. I picked up 13 bottles of CG today and I got a free bottle of Seche Rebuild just for simply purchasing 2 bottles of CG. This is not a review nor will swatches be added. The reason being, there are plenty of reviews on YouTube and other blogs as well as swatches. No need for me to dupe what's already been done a gazillion times! This is just my picks for summer colors!

The Roundup...
Towel Boy Toy

Sex In The City

Shower Together

Turned Up Turquoise (Neon)

For Audrey

In The Lime Light (Neon)

Celtic Sun (Neon)

Pink Voltage (Neon)
This pic does this color no justice!

Flip Flop Fantasy
Again, pic= no justice! Sorry, still 'learning' this camera!

Orange Knockout (Neon)

Rose Among Thorns (Neon)

Tempest
Not a 'bright' but I will be wearing it a lot this summer!

Spontaneous
Oddly enough, the label was missing from the bottom so I had to 'search' online and match it up to verify the color!

Ok guys & gals, I've decided to start a spotlight series which will feature up and coming YouTube hosts. I felt the need to try to get these people a little more exposure since they are starting out. I used the word 'host' because this will go beyond makeup at times. Sometimes I will feature comedians, gurus, and other interesting characters for you to check out. My featured YouTuber is DiamondsandDior. She's one of the newbies on YT and her videos feature fashion, makeup, hauls, etc. I just love her warm and spunky little personality! Check her out guys and show her some love and support as a newbie! http://www.youtube.com/user/DiamondsandDior

Alright I know I'm super late with this review but here it is as promised!

Let me just start off by saying this the best foundation I've tried thus far! I'm really picky when it comes to foundations, so it's usually hard to sell me on them. I saw so many rave reviews on YouTube regarding this foundation, that I rushed to the nearest Sephora and tested it out! I must say this foundation actually 'covered' my large pores which was a big plus for me. I'm still working with this foundation so I will more than likely touch on it again in the future. So far after wearing for the first time, I must say that I was very pleased with the results. I applied with my Coastal Scents foundation brush. Next I'm going to try applying it with a kabuki brush, whenever I get my hands on a good one!

The retail price for this product is $40. The MUFE brand is only carried by Sephora stores in the United States. It can also be found at the MUFE Boutique in New York, the only of it's kind in the U.S. Don't feel like shelling out $40? Go to any Sephora and try out the product and ask for a sample!

Review Time! FINALLY!!

Good Afternoon Cuties!

I finally took the time out from my busy birthday schedule to do the reviews I promised! This week will be focused on various cleansing products that I use.

First up,
NYX Eye & Lip Makeup Remover

I absolutely LOVE this stuff! It is an oil with water emulsion that moisturizes as it cleans. It has a nice gentle scent that is not over powering like some cleansers can be! I usually use a cotton ball instead of a pad with this product because I can clean with 1-2 swoops with one side and wipe up any leftover oil residue with the dry side. Don't worry, it's not super oily! I love how easy it makes the clean up. Eyeshadow and even waterproof liner just slides right off with this cleanser. To clean up eyeliner in the little nooks and crannies, I stick a clean Q-tip is the bottle's small opening and run it along the water line and lid edge. Clean up is a snap with this product and I give it 5 stars!

Target Brand Makeup Cleansing Cloths (sorry no pic, tossed outer packaging)
I use these cloths to wipe off all face makeup. It's a gentle cleanser with a nice scent. These cloths are packaged dry, you just moisten them with warm water and cleanse your face.

Avon Keep It Clean Vitamin Charged Cleanser
I use this product 2-3 times a week to cleanse my face. It's a gentle cleanser and yes it has a nice gentle scent!

Neutrogena Wave Duo Power Cleanser

When I first saw the commercial for this, I couldn't wait to run to the store to pick one up! I absolutely love it. My skin is super smooth after using this. You only need to use it about 3 times a week. It comes with a stater pack of cleaning pads that you just stick right on the head of the device. It has 2 speeds so you just have to choose what's comfortable for you and get to scrubbin'!

Target Facial Scrub For Blemishes and Blackheads
This product is a comparison to St Ives Apricot Scrub. This is my favorite because I have really dry skin in the winter and it tends to flake up a lot. Flakes and foundation don't mix! I use this about 3-4 times a week especially if I'm going to be applying foundation that day. I want to make sure my face is not going to flake up in pictures! Can we say not a good look?!

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion
I use this product after cleansing my face with one of the above cleansers. My skin is soft to the touch and in appearance after using this product.

MAC Moisturelush Cream

I love this stuff! A little bit goes a long way. Has a nice gentle scent. As you can probably tell by now, scent is a big deal to me! This product does a good job moisturizing my skin.

Soooo, that is this weeks review. Hope it was helpful! If you have questions, post them in the comment section.

Next week I'll be reviewing the foundations I use. It's only two for now, but I plan on purchasing more. As they come in I'll be posting reviews here.

Tah tah for now!

Hello Bloggsters!!!
Just wanted to share some beauty tips for applying false eyelashes. I have to constantly remind my clients of these things to remain healthy looking lashes while wearing falsies:
1. Never ever allow someone to apply false lashes with hair glue! BIG NO NO!
2. Always brush your own eyelashes when your not wearing false ones.
3. Purchase a eyelash conditioner to apply on lashes in between wearing false lashes
4. Never pull off false lashes to remove them use lash remover or seek a professional
5. Never allow somone to clump lash glue on your eye when applying lashes trying to create that "NEWYORK' look. This will make it harder to remove the falsies and you are likely pulling off your real ones in the process.
6. Always go for a natural look that compliments you.
7. Don't not wear lashes consistently, give your eyes and real lashes a break
8. Remember your real lashes shed just like the hair on your head, don't be alarm to see your own lashes shed this is very normal.
9. Have your lashes applied by a licensed professional only, Nail techs are not licensed to apply lashes!
10. When someone is doing great work on you, always refer their business, dont be afraid to tip and be considerate of their time as you should expect the same:)

Healthy Beauty

Good Afternoon Cuties!

I wanted to share some information regarding cosmetics that was discussed on Dr Oz's show recently. As most of you should know, not all cosmetics are good for you. This feature is going to make me read labels more and pay closer attention to the products that I 'beat' my pretty face with! I must admit that I was a tad bit nervous when I saw the commercial for the show topic. Then my aunt called me this morning and told me to tune in. Whew! I was glad to hear that most of the products mentioned I either don't use or don't use very often, but still there are precautions that need to be taken when using cosmetics. For more information, please check out the article and video posted on Dr Oz's website:

Storage Tips

While I'm on the subject of storage today, I decided that I would offer up a little advice about cosmetic storage. I know some of you are probably wondering, why my pics in the previous post appeared to be in different areas of the house. Well, heres why: You should never store makeup in the bathroom. I keep my palettes in my bedroom away from the heat vent. Which reminds me I need to move my perfume rack! You shouldn't keep perfume near any heat source and that includes direct sunlight. Why, you might ask? Because heat/direct sunlight reduces the life span of perfumes/colognes. As much money I've invested over the years in good products, they WILL be moved soon! I recently had new carpet installed so I took advantage of the situation and rearranged my bedroom, and that's how the rack got stuck in front of the heat vent. Why shouldn't you keep makeup in the bathroom? It's simple, think about it. What happens when you take a shower? Steam, which is basically moisture! You do not want these two elements to destroy your prized collection! This will only cause bacteria to form on your products and I don't think I know anyone who wants to purposely put bacteria on their face! The only things I keep in the bathroom are facial cleansers of course and my pigments and some shadows. I know this is completely opposite of what I just said but for space saving I had no choice. I only placed the pigments and shadows that were tightly sealed in jars in the clear drawers in the bathroom. My brushes and palettes are in my bedroom far away from the moisture! I had to make a choice because I was running out of space in my bedroom. So I decided to put ONLY tightly sealed makeup items in the clear drawers in the bathroom.

So my lovelies, if you are just starting out like me, or you've been at this for a while, carefully plan where you are going store your prized possessions!

Ta Ta for now!

Storage

Ok, so like I promised, here is how I store my mini makeup collection. I wanted to go with a uniform setup. I adore all things clear/acrylic! It just gives that whole clean and clear appearance.  The Container Store had everything I was looking for when it came to the 'clear' look for storage.

First item,

3 Drawer Box (Clear plastic) $9.99

Love this little number! I can see everything. No tacky labels here! I don't plan on having a gigantic collection so these are perfect for my pigments and shadow quads along with lip glosses, lipsticks, balms, etc. These are perfect for small pigments jars because they can be stacked in one drawer.
Sorry for the sideways action! But in the above photo I have 5 gram jars stacked in 2 layers along with some NYX glitters and shadows stacked as well on the left side.

Letter Rack (Clear) $5.99
I searched high and low for a CLEAR letter/file holder for my palette storage! And here it was right under my nose at my favorite store! This is shorter than the average letter holders you find in the office supply stores. That is what I love about TCS! They carry some of the most unique items. This little baby holds approximately 5 palettes. Since I love palettes and plan on pressing some of my pigments into palettes for traveling, I will be purchasing another one of these!
Ahhh, so neat and petite!

Pencil Cup (Clear) $5.99

Just what it says. This will be for my pencil liners and shade sticks.

OPI Nail Polish Rack $0.00

Yes you read it correctly! Free courtesy of a good friend of mine and my nail lady! It not only holds OPI polish but NYX and Sinful Colors. The OPI Nicole line does not fit into this holder. You can find nail polish racks all over eBay for reasonable prices. But before you take that route, check with you local nail salon to see if they have any leftovers that they are discarding. Free is the best way to go if you can!

Brush Holder $14.99
This little number came from another favorite store of mine, Michaels. I had a coupon by the way! This is made of glass and it required 2 bags of vase filler to hold my brushes. The brushes are from Avon and Coastal Scents and a bronzer brush that came with a free J Lo bronzer I got years ago with a perfume purchase.

4 Compartment Canister (The Container Store) $7.99
I could not find a link with a product description on the TCS website for some reason. So I gave it a 'name'! I love this box. It was perfect for holding makeup sponges, cotton balls, cotton swabs and cotton pads.

Soft Plastic Container $1.00

I fell in love with these containers when I first ran across them at the local dollar store! I purchased a gazillion of them to use for gift baskets for my soapsicles. I have a few left over so decided the other day I would use one for facial cleansing products to make room in one of 'Face' drawer for non-cleansing face products. They come in a square shape as well. Some have patterns like stripes and flowers. Most of them are neon colored. Trust me, I brought every color and pattern and shape I could find in the aisle!

Chrome and Glass Rack $ ???

I simply adore this rack! I can't remember exactly how much I paid for it, but I wanna say it was probably in the neighborhood of $15-$30. It wasn't very pricey at all. I found this little number at Target years ago in the bathroom section. The top rack holds all of my perfumes. The middle rack holds all of the matching body creams/lotions and the bottom rack holds all of my pedicure goodies along with misc hand lotions and body sprays. Next to it is one of the many loves of my life, my jewelry armoire.

Can't you tell I'm obsessed with good storage?! Can't help it, I've got a slight touch of OCD when it comes to storage!

Well that is all for now my lovelies. As promised I will have those swatches up soon. I will be starting out with my sample haul from TKB Trading.

Ta ta for now!
